Innovations was started in 2014 in the decorative lighting industry. Manufacturing primarily in China and selling to brick and mortar and online retailers.Working with 20 independent sales rep agencies with a combined 60 + reps, to grow the brick-and-mortar segment of the business which accounts for about half the sales of the company. During my time at the organization, the business has more than doubled in size in both sales and staff.

Started in 1929, A. I Friedman was a market leader in supplying the commercial art and design community. Core customers included advertising, publishing and corporate in-house departments. The company also operated a retail and web business in the fine art, framing and gift market. I started in 1980 as a field sales representative relocating to Westchester, NY specifically to open that market for the company. After successfully completing that task, became the company's sales manager in 1985 and then a shareholder in 1987. In the late 80’s and early 90’s consolidation within the advertising industry took hold and the emergence of the digital age in graphic design began. Over the course of the next 25 years, I evolved the company’s product mix to embrace the emerging digital market including Apple Computers, HP and Epson Wide Format Printers and supplies, Color Management product and services along with maintaining what was left of the traditional supply business. In so doing, we captured the dominate market position within our market segment and became the de facto supplier on a national scale for the advertising industry. Unfortunately, A I Friedman fell victim to the “retail apocalypse” and on the commercial side, the rapid change to digital screen marketing which dramatically reduced the need for anything related to print, the core driver of our business and closed its doors in May, 2018.
