I've ranged from entertainment to academic to corporate clients, but my real passion is facilitating change and creating engagement for causes. What could be more rewarding than working with nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and political campaigns?I've done this as a team leader, a freelancer, a volunteer, a developer, a designer, even an illustrator or a director from time to time. Deputy Director Of Front-End Development, West CoastBlue State Digital Dec 2011 - Dec 2014Brooklyn, New York, UsI had always been inspired by Blue State Digital's work, so realizing they had an LA outpost was a pivotal moment. I got to build sites for amazing clients such as Partners in Health, Google, the Born This Way Foundation, and the Art Institute of Chicago. A particularly special site for me was for the One Fund Boston organization following the attacks in 2013. One Fund went on to become one of the most successful relief funds to date. Check out some of these projects below.Enough about me - I got to work with a tremendous team of developers that swelled from ~6 to well over 20, LA coworkers that went from very low single to double digits, and even some SF people as that new office joined the West Coast team. I helped manage the team's growth as Deputy Director and was privileged to learn an immeasurable amount from my BSD family (and continue to today in Slack). -
Segment Researcher, Photo ResearcherConan Sep 2010 - Dec 2011Burbank, Ca, UsThanks to the boss man's generosity, I then got to work on Conan. In addition to all the research work, you may remember me as a Starbucks employee, a pirate in a PT Cruiser, or myself. There was a Segway thing once, but I think it got cut? -
Photo ResearcherNbc Universal Jun 2009 - Jan 2010New York City, Ny, UsI got to work on the entire run of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. It was nuts. -
Web ProducerBoston University May 2007 - Aug 2008Boston, Ma, UsThe Boston University Office of Marketing and Communications folks pulled together a New Media department full of brilliant designers who also happened to be some really ahead of the curve developers. And, then, me. I couldn't have had a better place to cut my professional teeth. I got to own every part of bringing many in-house clients' sites to life, from creative concepting to wireframing, designing, iterating, developing, and iterating some more. I also got to witness BU's first comprehensive brand development process and even provide a little input on how to best bring it to life on the web.Not many of my projects have survived the intervening years, but let me brag about one of the department's site I got to see launch: the Bostonia alumni magazine website. It's the best editorial design I've seen on the web, and they were doing it that well a DECADE ago. -
Digital DirectorButv10 Feb 2006 - May 2008Boston, Ma, UsDespite having a top film and television program, the Boston University College of Communication had no in-house television station. I got to be a part of changing that when butv10 was launched in 2006. I designed and built the station's debut website featuring both 24-hour live streaming video and a complete on-demand archive of programming.I redesigned the site in 2008, and the relaunched butv10.com went on to receive a Webby nomination for Best Student Website.
