Designed data fusion algorithms for a multimodal, tomographic, cargo screening system. Contributed significant improvements to existing algorithms, resulting in improved system capabilities, increased sensitivity and reduced false alarms. Delivered regular oral presentations on algorithm design and performance to external clients.

Conducted independent research studies on advanced brain imaging techniques. Designed experiments, collected structural and functional MRI data, and developed custom data analysis software, including image processing and statistical analyses. Presented work at international conferences, and wrote a successful NIH grant.

Pursued basic research on the function of early visual pathways, including the nature of intrinsic contrast mechanisms used in functional brain imaging methods. Initiated a collaboration to develop a novel micro-sensor for measurements of neural activity and brain oxygen concentration. This work resulted directly in three first author publications (including the journal Science), a successful NIH RO1 grant and a commercial product (manufactured and sold by Unisense A/S).
