I am back in the IT industry but in a new role: Sales & Marketing.

As both a full-time and, later, a part-time small business was responsible for business development (sales and marketing), project design and implementation, and on-going client support. The entire profitability of the projects was based on accurate estimations of hours required to accomplish all of the client needs. All sites comply with Section 508 and Bobby standards.

This agency is part of the Virginia Department of Corrections. Trustees make office furniture, equipment, and supplies for sale to government agencies and non-profits. It is one of the few state government agencies that is totally self-supporting (it receives no funding from the taxpayers) and, in fact, sends money to the treasurey.

Worked on the MARS project team to automate claims processing based on business rule scenarios. The project uses Reflections screen scraping to emulate a real claims processor researching a problem claim. The MARS application is written in Visual Basic 6 with extensive use of XML and SQL Server.
