About Jeff Li
Jeff is a seasoned leader with a uniquely wide-ranging set of experiences, having worked as a non-profit executive, a Board Chair, an award-winning educator, and a management consultant. Jeff is currently the co-founder of KIPP Beyond, KIPP's first intentionally integrated school, which opened its doors in August of 2021. As an educator, Jeff has been awarded the Harriett Ball Excellence in Teaching Award, KIPP's highest national teaching honor, and was also recognized as an American Star of Teaching by the U.S. Department Of Education for the academic gains of his students.Jeff was previously the Executive Director of Teach For America – New York, where he helped lead a doubling of the site’s incoming corps size and an increase in fundraising to raise the most money of any TFA region in the organization’s history at the time.Jeff also chaired the Board of ROADS, two charter schools that served over-aged, under-credited students, with high numbers of students who are homeless and/or involved in the juvenile justice and foster care systems.Before his career in education, Jeff was a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, providing strategy consulting to Fortune 500 companies.Jeff received his B.A. in Economics and International Relations with Distinction at Stanford University, and his M.S. in Childhood Education at the Bank Street College of Education.As an educator, Jeff was a Better Lesson Master Teacher, a ToolBox Teacher for the Character Lab, and was a Featured Teacher for the KIPP network of schools nationwide. Previously, Jeff taught 8th grade math at KIPP Infinity Middle School in Harlem. For five consecutive years, 8th graders at KIPP Infinity outperformed affluent students in Scarsdale on the New York State exam, and had the highest proportion of 8th graders performing in the top quartile on the nationally-normed MAP exam in the entire KIPP network nationwide.Jeff was appointed by the NY State Education Commissioner to New York's Teacher Advisory Council. Jeff has also engaged in teacher training and organizational development overseas, working with Teach For Thailand, Education Changemakers in Australia, and the African Leadership Academy in South Africa.
