Jeff has a long background in systems and network administration that he leveraged into web and network penetration testing, especially involving Active Directory. He has taught dozens of classes in network penetration testing for the SANS Institute, and is the author of the "Metasploit Kung Fu for Enterprise Pen Testing" course. He specializes in not only finding end-to-end realistic attack scenarios for clients, but also in helping technical staff as well as senior leadership in understanding the attack, its ramifications, detective controls, and assisting in safe remediation. Jeff has competed in many security competitions and has won many of them, along with designing and presenting several iterations of the SANS Core NetWars Tournaments to thousands of attendees.

Systems Engineer
Joined the End-User Technology and Standards division, quickly taking over the software packaging process with my newly-created standardized template. Deployed software packages I’d created to over 3,300 workstations silently and without user interaction using Systems Management Server. Assisted in campus-wide image creation and deployment projects. Led a group of interns in the XP migration project, automating the transition from Windows 2000 to XP in an automated fashion for over 400 workstations, including user profile and software migration.

Architected and engineered the network design for the research lab, which supports computer science faculty, IT staff, and students for classes and research projects. Implemented bandwidth and network monitoring, a Windows Server 2008 domain, and an imaging process for dissimilar hardware. Scripted automatic defragmentation and off-site backup for over a dozen virtual machines.

Repaired existing systems as they came in, along with recommending and building new systems for clients based on their specifications. Researched at home, and then created a slipstreamed Windows XP CD (with service packs, updates, and drivers) that increased technicians’ productivity and lessened turnaround time for clients. Provided second-tier support for hardware and software problems as part of the five-man district-level IT team. Worked with Active Directory, most specifically in user administration. Automated installs and scripted configurations for large batches of computers as they entered the school domain. Assisted in the MDF, working on and rebuilding servers. Set up Remote Installation Services for deployment of Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2000.
