On the Zensey project, I worked on migrating features of the site from Zend PHP over to Lift Web Framework. Wrote the authentication code to support SSO with MyCigna. Worked on a team to write the user messaging feature. Wrote client integration code to authenticate and exchange data with Cigna. Gathered performance metrics and helped orchestrate load tests.On the Rally project, I helped build up a team of 5 engineers to build the Sorting Hat service to manage the roles and permissions of the various partners and clients that we integrate with. I helped architect and implement the initial version of the service. We kept our code coverage above 90% and documented all the core features of the service.

Worked closely with cofounder of this startup company to build out the remaining portion of a website one month into the project around when the founding developer left. Lead a team of 2 developers at a company of 7. Built out the Jira workflows, deployment strategy, code architecture and server setup (using webfactional). Laid the foundation for in-memory, fixture-based unit testing using django-nose and selenium testing. Fixed bugs and built out site functionality, working with PayPal IPN and Facebook social authentication. Built the design-based beta launch page using HTML5 and CSS3, using minimal JQuery / JavaScript. Managed database schema and data migrations using django-south. Communicated and helped organize with analytics specialist and the cofounders to coordinate the beta launch.

Full-spectrum web development using MS SQL server, Java, Spring, Ibatis, Struts2 with a focus on user experience. Built web pages and interface for self-service press release system. Co-built a database-persisted versioning XSL template management system called the Template Center using separate and configurable DAO, service, view, and template layers. This project moved the templates from XSL files from the code base into the database, so that we could make changes outside the build cycle and enabled us to speed up the new brief launch process from ~4 days to ~8 hours development time. Built a GUI for previewing / performing bulk changes to brief templates (each brief has its own templates, but they may share the same immutable snippets of code). Operations run on an uninterrupted per-session singleton thread. The web page polls the view/controller using AJAX to update a progress bar and results list. Optimized the page load time of our Subscriber Explorer tool from 90 seconds to ~7 seconds (accounting for cached / non-cached). Unit testing in JavaScript (QUnit), Java (JUnit), and python (unittest). Debugging character encoding issues. Wrote the mercurial developer hooks and unit tests. Created developer scripts repository and installation script

Interned as a software developer on the Zope 4 Media and Zaam Dashboard applications. Wrote new UI features using the Dojo JavaScript framework and the Zope 3 Python application server. Created a UI to allow users to dynamically filter items in a list using keywords. Worked on another UI that used drag and drop elements and AJAX to give a rich interactive experience for the user. Debugged Python code for Zope application server.

Worked with Dr. Nancy Amato and Dr. Lydia Tapia to implement a reinforcement learning algorithm for generating better roadmaps the probabilistic roadmap method (PRM) software at Parasol Laboratory. Wrote learning algorithm in C++ to aid researchers in selecting good parameter values to generate evenly sampled energy landscapes for roadmap construction. Wrote scripts in Python and gnuPlot to plot and analyze the data. Learned fundamental theories of Robotics and applied these theories to writing an academic paper with LaTeX and prepared a poster for a presentation in front of judges and faculty. The project successfully showed that the selection of parameter values was biased in favor of specific regions of the energy landscape of a protein, and that further research on learning rates and selectionalgorithms could prove useful for generating better quality roadmaps for larger proteins.
