Starting as a volunteer journalist, the role evolved to paid staff writer and marketing officer, to company director responsible for publishing. Part of the team that grew the regional enterprise from 200 copies of The Big Issue London magazine sold from the city centre manager's office in Bath to 25,000 copies (at its peak) of a South West edition sold across the whole of the South West region by over 400 homeless people. Returned to the South West after almost three years at the helm of the national Big Issue enterprise to implement another big change programme to respond to changed trading and social environment, fitting the business to the size of its budget while also looking at future initiatives that ultimately lay outside the organisation.
