Profile bio

About Jeff Petriello

I make games and teach others how to design them. Currently, I am working as a Senior Producer on the Games Team at The New York Times and an Adjunct Professor of Game Design at the NYU Game Center. Previously, I worked independently as a game designer, producer, and consultant. Recently, I launched a successful Kickstarter and contracted as the Producer and Technical Narrative Design Consultant at Glow Up Games. Prior to that, I was the Producer at Half Mermaid Productions, a Brooklyn-based game studio founded by Sam Barlow, where I produced the BAFTA and IGF award-winning IMMORTALITY. Formerly, I worked to help publishers like the NBA, SoulCycle, & Bleacher Report with video, design, animation, motion graphics, writing and development for Snapchat Discover, Instagram and other storytelling platforms. In 2017, I completed a teaching fellowship at Fullstack Academy, a coding bootcamp, helping others hone their web development skills and serving as part of the engineering team as I pursued work in interactive media, gaming, and future tech. As a member of the leadership team of Mashable Studios and the head of the Mashable Collective, I had the pleasure of hiring and managing an amazing squad of two dozen animators, video producers, photographers, and in general, some of the most talented people I know. Outside of developing content for Instagram, Vine, and Snapchat each day, my team was responsible for the creative behind many branded social advertising campaigns, having worked with HBO, Olympus, Hewlett-Packard, Hot Wheels, PepsiCo, MasterCard and more. I also oversaw the creation of visual content - motion graphics, photo activations, promotional materials, and projections - for Mashable's events in collaboration with our product and experiential teams. They included our Mashable House at SXSW, the Social Good Summit, and our #MashMeet community events. Before Mashable, I had the opportunity to be the 1st employee at NowThis, a video news startup founded by Huffington Post founder Ken Lerer and his VC partner Eric Hippeau. The experience I gained from helping to build a tech & media startup from the point of inception is invaluable, and I'm thankful for it every day. Prior to that, I worked in the film industry, assisting the motion picture and theater producer Scott Rudin and producing an independent feature film shot by Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Rachel Morrison.BIG shoutout to Matthew Dean Stewart for my profile photo.

Listed skills include Social Media, Video, Film Production, Video Production, and 37 others.
