Our users gave us a continuous stream of stories about how our radical shift in operations saved people’s lives, and from that point on I was hooked on the value of change.As a cloud architect I’ve changed an organization by rearchitecting and migrating their systems to AWS, enabling it to scale 1000x without breaking the bank. As a leader I’ve opened up new business models and achieved a 10x gross sales increase by showing how new technologies open up new approaches to old problems. As an innovation catalyst I’ve changed how sports marketing is done.In my career of 20 years as engineer, architect and leader, I have learned a few lessons that now define me as an executive - A passionate leader will create passionate teams, and passionate teams will change an organization. - 'No' is an innovation killer. Ask 'how' given the constraints. - If your teams aren't learning new technologies constantly, you are missing out on game changing ideas. (This is such an easy problem to solve and yields enormous results). - Every minute trying to stabilize a production system, is a minute you could be doing something useful. Build it right so it doesn't fall over. Build it transparent so you can quickly debug when it does.I love meeting new people and talking about disruptive innovation (and soccer).
