I was Vice President of Radio and Program Director at KERA in Dallas from 2006 until retiring from the station in 2022. I oversaw the overall programming and operations of 90.1 KERA News and 91.7 KXT, and I was deeply involved in the planning and production of many successful on-air fundraising and membership drives for the stations. Achievements include the launch of the daily program Think in 2006, the successful acquisition and launch of 91.7 KXT in 2009, the development and launch of the Texas Station Collaborative and Texas Newsroom, and creating the terms of agreement with the city of Dallas for KERA management and operation of Classical 101.1 WRR in 2022. Before KERA I worked at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), Alaska Public Media, KALW San Francisco, and KPBS San Diego. I was a Public Media Content Collective Board Member from 2017 to 2023, serving as Board Chair in 2022 and 2023. Board accomplishments include working as a group with staff in the planning, development, and adoption of a multi-year Strategic Plan and re-branding in 2023. PMCC was formerly known as the Public Radio Program Directors Association. I have in-depth knowledge of public radio from working locally and nationally, with different people and communities, for over 30 years in Dallas, Texas, Anchorage, Alaska, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco and San Diego, California. I was Manager of Radio Projects and Programming at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting from 1998 to 2005. I helped provide grants to NPR, stations, and independent producers for news, documentary, and cultural programs, such as Morning Edition, Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, This American Life, Native America Calling, American Routes, Snap Judgment, PRX, and more. I was a fundraiser for Alaska Public Media from 2005 to 2006. I wrote grant proposals for digital and rural service support, and produced and participated in radio and TV on-air fundraising and membership drives. I have also been GM of San Francisco radio station KALW (NPR) from 1996 to 1998, and a Senior Producer at San Diego radio and television station KPBS (NPR, PBS) from 1988 to 1996. I have a BA in Journalism from San Diego State University.
