I am a high tech executive with a passion for entrepreneurship. I built my first computer in the third grade, and I started my first company when I was 11. Decades later, I'm still at it. I am the founding CEO of Scale Computing, which I continue to lead 15 years in, from inception, through multiple rounds of funding, explosive growth, and many industry changes. Today we are the leader in edge computing, with cutting-edge technology and thousands of customers worldwide. When not leading Scale Computing, I maintain a passion for entrepreneurship and startups, technology and non-tech alike. I am a regular public speaker on entrepreneurship and related topics; I am an advisor to many startups; I am an active board member at the NFIB supporting the cause of small business; and I am chairman at the GEO Foundation, a non-profit org which creates innovative schools across the country, in the communities that will benefit the most. I’ve even written a (somewhat outdated) book on fundraising for startups. In short, I love innovation, and I love both creating and helping others create the products and companies that solve real problems for real people. I thrive on hearing that a customer loves what I’ve helped to build. I believe this kind of direct innovation and problem solving -- whether it’s leveraging technology, creating a new kind of high school, defending entrepreneurship, or launching a beer brand -- is good for the world. I am passionate about both doing it myself and helping others learn to do the same.
