I am an enthusiastic and detail-oriented NIH-funded PhD candidate with 4+ years of experience in pharmacology and toxicology and a strong track record of achievement in experimental design, data analysis, publication, grant writing, and more. My research focuses on mechanisms of disease pathology and discovery of novel therapeutic drugs and drug targets in alcohol-associated gut and liver diseases. I am passionate about applying new technologies and collaborating with other scientists to accelerate drug development for diseases which lack effective therapeutic options. My projects explore the interaction between diet and alcohol-associated liver disease, with emphasis on dietary fatty acid metabolites. I also study the role of anti-microbial peptides in alcohol-associated liver disease as well as alcohol and nutrition-related epidemiology. My work continues to spread into new and exciting areas including the role of gut microbiota and the gut-liver axis.I routinely implement new projects and techniques in the laboratory, simultaneously manage multiple projects, and forge new collaborations to enhance our research. Throughout my pre-doctoral training, I have leveraged my unique combination of innovative thought, attention to detail, organization, ability to learn quickly, and team-oriented mentality with my technical skills in different areas to achieve numerous publications and awards. I have received two NIH-funded grants (T32 & F31), published seven first author or co-first author manuscripts and seven co-author manuscripts, given oral or poster presentations on my research at local or national conferences many times (30+), and received numerous travel awards or poster competition awards (>15).I have a robust and ever-expanding background in pre-clinical drug development, nanomedicine, pharmacology, toxicology, hepatology, and gastroenterology, with hands-on experience in in vivo disease modeling, in vitro cell culture techniques, flow cytometry, cellomics, tissue processing / dissociation, ELISA, MSD, western blot, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, image analysis automation, biostatistics, and more. I am a fast learner and am always looking to add new techniques to my repertoire.I am very passionate about continuing this track record of independence, creative thinking, resource/project management, and productivity by transitioning to the industry research setting.
