Jeff Bash is the managing partner of the Madison County, Illinois office (located in metropolitan St. Louis) for Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard and Smith LLP and vice-chair of its nationwide Asbestos Litigation practice group. Mr. Bash focuses his practice on the defense of manufacturers, retailers, suppliers and premises owners in toxic/mass tort and environmental litigation. He provides proactive solutions aimed at reducing potential liability and exposure to clients. Mr. Bash also has extensive experience representing health care providers, trucking and insurance companies. Mr. Bash has successfully managed complex commercial litigation for Fortune 500 corporate clients in Madison County and St. Clair County, Illinois and in neighboring counties in Missouri, such as the City of St. Louis, for more than 15 years, including serving as National Coordinating Counsel and National Settlement Counsel. He has tried cases to verdict and specializes in mitigating risks for clients through diligent trial preparations, motion practice and settlement negotiations. He has taken the lead in pressing defenses such as a lack of personal jurisdiction, forum non conveniens, products liability statutes of repose and medical causation. He has also drafted and argued numerous dispositive motions including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment. Mr. Bash has defended the firm’s clients in hundreds of depositions of plaintiffs, corporate representatives, co-workers, medical providers and experts. In addition, he has experience litigating claims involving hospital billing disputes. He also has extensive experience defending clients in benzene exposure claims and general insurance casualty claims. Jeff is licensed to practice in the State Courts of Illinois and Missouri and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Illinois and Eastern District of Missouri.

Jeff concentrates his practice in the defense of products liability claims including asbestos litigation in Illinois and Missouri. He has taken a lead role in coordinating the defense of a large number of claims filed against a fiber-supplier defendant, among others. Jeff is responsible for the analysis of potential liability based upon product supply and alleged usage of materials in which the asbestos fiber is used. In addition, he has taken the lead in pressing defense issues such as forum non conveniens, products liability statutes of repose and medical causation. Jeff has drafted and argued numerous dispositive motions including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment. He has also prepared hundreds of cases for trial. In addition, Jeff has defended the firm's clients in numerous depositions of plaintiffs, co-workers, medical providers and experts. He also has extensive experience defending the firm's clients in benzene exposure claims, including taking depositions of fact and expert witnesses, developing defense strategies, arguing dispositive motions, and negotiating settlements. Jeff further concentrates his practice in professional liability matters including defending physicians, nurses and health care entities.Jeff is licensed to practice law in the State Courts of Illinois and Missouri. He is also licensed to practice law in the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Illinois and Eastern District of Missouri. Jeff began his career at Heyl Royster after clerking in the firm's Urbana and Edwardsville offices. While in law school, Jeff clerked for Saint Louis University's Office of the General Counsel - Health Services and was a legal intern for the General Counsel of Charter Communications. Following graduation in 2003, he joined the firm in the Edwardsville office. Jeff is a native of Peoria, Illinois.
