I have been in EMS for a long time. During high school, I joined the reserves as an MP. 911 happened during my senior year and I decided then to go active military vs going to college. I served in Iraq as a combat medic in Operation Iraqi Freedom 1. Experience in running an aid station and sick call as well as combat operations. I went to Germany after Iraq where I continued aid station work. When I got discharged in 2007, I worked for multiple ambulance companies as an EMT basic. A step behind of what I did in the military. Since 2007 to 2015 I was an EMT basic. A lot of experience and knowledge was gained. I felt it was time to increase what I can do for my patients, so I went to paramedic school. I became a paramedic in 2016. I worked for several EMS companies in the paramedic role. You have to be a good investigator and quick thinker to recognize and determine what ailment is affecting your patient. I excel at this skill. I interpret vital signs, EKG readings, signs and symptoms, to determine the best route of treatment I can provide and give reports to higher levels of care. ( IE Nurses and Doctors) Covid-19 was a tough time for EMS providers. I gained knowledge in proper BSI and sterilization and cleaning to prevent spreading of the virus.
