Profile bio

About Jeffrey Bone

I am a telecom design engineer with Horrocks Engineers. Some of my past experience included working as a project engineer in the automation industry. I simultaneously worked as a mechanical design engineer, a project engineer, a trainer and a mentor. I would work directly with customers to quote projects and agree on the scope of work. From there, I would communicate and hand out work priorities to the engineers within my group. I would QA/QC their designs, offer feedback and improve the overall efficiency of the group.Working in Customer Service, I was retrofitting new equipment and designs onto projects that had been running production for anywhere from 1-20+ years. The changes required might be due to obsolete equipment, a process addition, or a customer product change. I regularly met with managers and other engineers to review customer requests, gave my opinion on feasibility, offered a design concept, and estimated the total number of engineering hours necessary to complete the design and update documentation. I met regularly with the group’s engineers to ensure they were meeting each project’s timeline and expectations. In prior experience, I have worked in the power generation industry with a focus on auxiliary equipment for large scale gas turbines. I would review and approve/reject supplier documentation to ensure that the equipment delivered matches what was agreed upon by the project team and the customer.

Listed skills include Engineering, Matlab, Autocad, Solidworks, and 38 others.

Mechanical Engineer 1

Orlando, Florida

Fluid auxiliaries Lead Engineer for a South Korean gas turbine project whose responsibilities included creating purchasing specifications for all equipment including pumps and motors, compressors, air tanks, air dryers, filters/strainers, valves, pressure/flow transmitters, thermocouples, heat exchangers, gauges, and fittings. All components were ordered through me so while ensuring code compliance as well as P&ID execution, I would communicate directly with suppliers and let them know whether or not their product would meet company standards and strict design criteria. From the scope of my work, I have developed very efficient methods of working with and handling supplier documentation such as Bill of Materials, GA drawings, O&M manuals, pump curves, transmitter data sheets, and sizes of all equipment to ensure the equipment was functional for its intended purposes.I would regularly communicate with engineers of other disciplines such as electrical, structural, and controls engineers to ensure the safety of the equipment being ordered and installed.I designed, outlined a process, and fully wrote instructional procedures for on-site flushing of installed piping branches to remove dirt, weld scale, and anything that could introduce a problem to components throughout the system and wear down the expected life of the system. My duties included writing an installation and commissioning procedure which included:1) Removing specific components that could be harmed by high velocity flow through them.2) Creating an efficient flushing path through the network of piping to maximize oil flow.3) Branching off piping sections by using flushing equipment.4) Specifying flushing equipment needed.5) Step-by-step instructions on which pumps to turn on and when, time needed for each flushing section, and which components to bypass.6) Testing the oil for cleanliness.7) Reinstallation of all components as shown specifically on the P&ID.8) Back to full operation.
