In my engineering role I evaluated consumer products for electrical safety using industry supported standards and guidelines to ensure the product complied with the applicable regulations. Daily responsibilities included technical evaluation including mechanical and electrical testing, of products submitted for certification under the ETL listing program, assisting the sales team in generating quotes for potential projects, and interfacing with multiple clients to manage expectations of ongoing projects, while planning, executing, and documenting multiple simultaneous projects and planning for upcoming work. Responsibilities also included traveling to client sites to evaluate and test products at their locations and auditing existing clients to ensure they were continuing to meet requirements.

My wife and I took a gap year to explore, see new places, learn about different cultures, and push our boundaries by traveling around the world. This trip greatly increased my respect for other cultures as well as making it much easier for me to be comfortable despite chaotic and stressful surroundings, in all variations of settings from rural to metropolitan, and from first to third world countries. Destinations included every continent except Antarctica, visiting a total of 24 countries.

Extensive shipboard experience in operations and testing naval nuclear power plant platforms, completed multi-year training pipeline and subsequently certified by the Department of Defense (via NAVSEA 08) as an S6G (Los Angeles Class) and S8G (Ohio Class) Shift Test EngineerProcess included training on reactor theory, radiological controls, chemistry, reactor plant systems, core materials and construction, and operational procedures. Responsible for assessing the impact of current work and the upcoming test schedule on overall reactor safety and operability, while directing high level maintenance procedures and plant operations.Determined proper isolations (similar to OSHA lock out/tagout) for work as well as correct retests after given maintenance to ensure proper and complete work.
