As managing shareholder, I am in charge of the overall management and day-to-day operations of Buchalter's office in Seattle. After helping to launch the office in the spring of 2018 we were able to double our numbers in the first seven months of operations. As we continue to expand to serve our clients' needs, I trust and rely on my colleagues to provide the most outstanding client service of any team I've ever encountered in my career, both inside and outside the legal environment.Although I oversee operations, I still spend about 80 percent of my time practicing law. My goal is to put our clients in the best position possible. I enjoy practicing law, advising clients, and working with a very accomplished team. I will keep doing so as long as I continue to be effective.

From 20I3 to 2017, I was the Managing Partner and Chair of the Executive Committee charged with leading 130 lawyers and 120 staff. In that role I handled high-level client issues, worked closely with a talented group of Directors, and mediated a number of internal disputes. I was also charged with formulating strategy and often took the lead in recruiting lateral partners. Prior to my term as Managing Partner, I led the firm's Litigation Group for three years while I continued to serve my clients on all of their day-to-day matters.

At Bullivant Houser Bailey, I learned many valuable lessons in law firm leadership through more business-like operating principals. After my first few years as an effective lawyer for our clients, I was asked to take on roles with increased responsibilities, first as the Seattle office managing partner and later as a member of the board of directors. It was a great experience with many good people who are still friends and colleagues today.

I got started in construction law at the boutique firm of Barokas and Martin (now Barokas Martin & Tomlinson). I tried my first case within a couple of weeks of receiving my license to practice and thankfully prevailed, winning costs and fees for our client! I successfully tried a number of construction and real estate matters in the two years I was at the firm and found I had an aptitude for contract disputes and solving complicated problems.
