20 Years as a Deep Sea Diver

Maintained a Top Secret – SCI Clearance Eligibility. Assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Three (EODMU-3) Coronado, CA as the Command Diving Supervisor and Leading Chief Petty Officer. Managed and supervised all aspects of the commands diving program to include policies, procedures, training and inspections. Trained 125 divers in safe diving practices while personally qualifying 29 officers and enlisted personnel as Diving Supervisors, improving the command’s overall level of mission readiness by 20.3%. Developed and implemented a comprehensive training plan to include conducting monthly command wide diver training consisting of MK-16 UBA, scuba, recompression chamber operations, maintenance, and supervision. Conducting weekly drill scenarios to qualify and maintain qualifications for diving supervisors. Qualified as an Expeditionary Warfare Specialist and conducted EXWS training for all levels of the chain of command. Platoon Chief/MK-16/Scuba Diving Supervisor leading and managing significant numbers of operators in hazardous life threatening underwater diving evolutions to include extensive training in emergency situations in relations to mine countermeasure threats, live ordnance evolutions, and diving medical emergencies. I am able and have proven to be successful leading and managing operations and personnel in crisis situations. Assigned to Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) San Diego.As facility manager/supervised the construction and refurbishment of the NOT’s Facility utilizing self help and diver labor saving the Navy $325,000 dollars in contracted labor costs. The facility was upgraded by installing new Crew's quarters, mezzanine, new kitchen with all new electrical throughout making an up to date research facility. I managed all logistics to include movements of personnel and equipment shipped from San Diego to San Clemente Island via barge or plane. Diving Supervisor/Technician supporting various projects in logistic services personnel assignments, contract allocation and underwater procedures involved in the Deployable Surveillance group (DSG) with extensive work with fiber optic cables, maintained underwater fiber optic Junction box in 100FSW, cable recovery without fiber optic breaks, maintained cable break for cable installs, installed recovery kits with acoustic releases, conducted array sink rate matching tests, conducted cable plow testing for cable burial, small boat operations and modifications. Diving Supervisor/Technician on classified project located in around the globe providing diving and small boat operations and expertise.Diving and Littoral Division Dive Supervisor provided stellar leadership and management while instituting ORM practices during high risk evolutions for 8 military and 28 civilian divers in support of 118 SPAWAR and Homeland Security projects.
