About Jeffrey Hall

I worked at Lowell Observatory from August 1992 to November 1994, starting as a postdoctoral researcher working on a long-term program of monitoring activity cycles in Sun-like stars as well as the Sun itself. In addition to the astrophysics, this work touches on the interesting area of solar effects on climate. In 1998, I was appointed Lowell's Associate Director for Education and Special Programs, and from 2008-2010, I served as the project scientist for the Lowell Discovery Telescope (LDT). I was appointed interim Director in June 2010 and Executive Director in December 2010. During my time as Lowell's XD, we commissioned the $53M LDT and constructed the $4M Giovale Open Deck Observatory, which opened in 2019, and the $53M Marley Foundation Astronomy Discovery Center, which opened November 16, 2024.I retired from Lowell in November 2024 and am now offering consulting for non-profits. I can help you with strategic planning, development and implementation of philanthropic programs, and executive coaching. I approach these efforts using the concepts of "Servant Fundraising," which my colleague Lisa Actor and I have developed as an extension of the basic principles of servant leadership, enabling philanthropists to give with joy and derive purpose and satisfaction from their generosity.
