Post M&A integration (reengineered and restructured) for Petrel Engineering, a 60 year old South African fishing equipment manufacturing company, to compete in the marine, oil & gas, renewable and nuclear energy markets as part of an Elgin Engineering Group acquisition roll-up strategy.

Provided Westinghouse with strategic, commercial and business development assistance in launching its Small Modular Reactor Light Water Reactor program (SMR). Specifically, worked to initiate a SMR design review Customer Steering Committee, business plan, product branding and communication strategy as well as being the Westinghouse liaison for the United States Department of Energy. Prior to this, was the Westinghouse Next Generation Nuclear Plant Program and Proposal Manager. Led led the Westinghouse Partnership (Westinghouse, the Shaw Energy and Environmental Company and the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor Company) to a successful $40 million U.S. DOE financial assistance award. As the Program Manager, facilitated strategic and project plans and partnership agreements. Functioned as the Westinghouse AP1000 licensing manager for proposed nuclear reactor projects in South Africa, the Czech Republic, Brazil and Italy.

Assisted Rolando Curtis Foods, an early growth stage company, establish and implement its business plan and market entry into the bottled water and coffee industries. Successfully raised $1.4 million initial seed capital for the company.

Haynes and Harper, a management consulting firm, was established to provide executive training programs for the US Small Business Administration. The firm developed and implemented a US Small Business Administration nationwide, all 50 States for over 300 business owners, “CEO/President Boot Camp” initiative

Turner Harper & Associates (THA) was a management consulting firm established to serve US Federal Government Agencies, Fortune 500 energy companies and small businesses. The company sold in 2003. The firm’s projects were in the areas of strategic/business planning; change management; programming, database management and information security; nuclear quality management/assurance and regulatory/litigation support; and, management training programs. The company performed these projects in several countries including the USA, South America, Zimbabwe, South Africa and the Czech Republic.

Member of a successful team of project managers and engineers that built a Circulating Fluidized Bed Coal Fired Electric Power plant in Western Maryland. Solid Fuel Procurement Manager and Negotiator for the plant during the early days of the project. Other duties included conducting research on the economics and feasibility of siting plants fueled by liquefied natural gas (LNG) versus clean coal technology.

Part of a technical team effort that successfully restarted the High Flux Isotope Research Reactor at the Department of Energy Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The reactor was shut down for more than five (5) years for safety reasons. Responsible for providing Senior Management with technical recommendations and solutions regarding regulatory compliance, quality management and metallurgical engineering issues such as corrosion, material selection, welding and nondestructive testing of materials.

Led over 30 technical audits and inspections of nuclear power plants, including their equipment and material suppliers. Inspections consisted of evaluations against Federal Law 10CFR50 Appendix B. These inspections looked at among other things management actions and commitments to industry codes and standards; plant operations; metallurgical and welding practices and issues; and, nondestructive evaluation practices. Managed the first program within the Commission to investigate substandard foreign produced fastener products imported into the USA which led to Public Law 101 592, “Fastener Quality Act.” Resolved over 200 public allegations made against USA nuclear power plant facilities and suppliers.

Provided Standard Oil of Ohio’s refineries and chemical plants recommendations on mechanical failure analyses; equipment maintenance as it relates to “remaining-life” considerations; and, corrosion control expertise (specifically stress corrosion cracking and high temperature corrosion). Consulting was provided to managers and engineers on design related issues (especially material selection) for existing and new plants according to requirements, specifications and standards based upon, in part, upon the American Society for Testing and Materials and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
