My professional career begain 30 years ago when I entered my first classroom teaching position. I quickly found that traditional methods were not effective for all kids to learn math. It became my passion to support all students and research and find strategies for them all to learn math. I also quickly learned that the best partners in educating kids are the parents of those kids. While 30 years ago communication was far from efficient, it was still effective. I then carried that mentality into my school administration work as I tried to find better and more effective ways to support my teachers and co-workers in communicating proactively with families.Further, this work with students, families and educators helped me learn the foundations of consultative sales, as I often had to build trust with them which is best done by being an active listener.After 22 years in leading teams in schools, school districts and in sales-focussed organizations, I have experienced working in many environments with many colleagues and leaders. From each of these experiences, I have taken nuggets that I believe have made me a better person, a better team member, and a better leader. Whether it was with small or large teams, I believe it's important that everyone has a voice and that the team itself, has more insights than any single member - including the leader.I believe I have a balanced skill set of understanding data, people and processes - a trifecta that has helped me find success in all endeavors in education and sales. My 22 years of school and district experiences combined with nearly 10 years of sales experiences has provided me the balance of customer understanding with sales strategy.I believe the key to not just selling many partnerships, but in building many, quality partnerships, is focusing on consultative sales. Listening to prospective partners to learn what has both worked and not worked for them, learning what their needs and dreams are, and developing trusting relationships are all extremely valid pieces to building strong, long-lasting partnerships and referral partners.Ultimately, I do what I do to support the learning of children and to support families. I strive every day to this more efficiently and effectively. Collaboration is the key to success and the voice of the team and customer/partner is essential and necessary to accomplishing my why.
