I worked with AEI's Critical Threats Project Iran Team to analyze Farsi- and English-language news reporting on current events in Iran. I worked with two other interns to analyze the reporting each day and produce an analytic summary of events and their likely impacts on Iranian policy and geopolitics.

I worked with the Wargaming Center within the Center for Applied Strategic Learning to design, fine tune, and implement simulations in areas ranging from the modern South China Sea to the Constitutional Convention of 1787. I conducted open-source research with these goals in mind. I was also able to meet with many professionals at National Defense University and attend a number of talks and events on topics relevant to the wargame simulations that I assisted in creating.

I assisted Wilson Center scholars, including Air Force Fellow Colonel Reny, Steven Lagerfeld, and Sam Wells, in their research projects by conducting on-site research in the Library of Congress, National Archives, and Wilson Center library. My research was used to improve and complete sections of these scholars' papers and articles and included information on hypersonic weapons platforms, nuclear deterrence theory, nuclear defense policy, red team analysis, and the Korean War. As a part of this internship, I was able to attend a number of presentations and panels held at the Wilson Center as well as engage with other Center scholars about their own fields and interests.

My responsibilities were to conduct research on various topics using online resources and the physical collection of the library. These topics ranged from military units to military historians to service member from all eras of the United States military. I then synthesized this research into well written and cited articles that were uploaded to Wikipedia as a part of the Museum and Library's project to provide greater accessibility of the information contained within its archives to the public.

I conducted research on more than 20 suicide attacks against civilians perpetrated by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Chechen Rebels with a small group of other research interns. The primary sources of information for many of these attacks were news articles obtained from LexisNexis as well as those found by searching the archives of local newspapers. After researching each attack extensively, another intern and I would synthesize a report that individual episode detailing the context, motivations, justifications, and preparations for the attack in addition to the more basic facts of target, responsibility, and type of attack. Each week, one such report was used as the framework for an oral and visual presentation given to our supervisors.
