I work as a research assistant to Dr. Beth Rink, assisting with qualitative and quantitative analyses on an NIH R01 randomized controlled trial taking place on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Topics include: sexual and reproductive health outcomes in youth, parent-youth communication patterns and how they are associated with youth sexual and reproductive health outcomes, intervention assessment (for feasibility and acceptability of the intervention). I focus as well in statistical modeling and data analysis, using classical statistical modeling techniques including linear regression, logistic regression, negative binomial regression (yet to learn), and exploratory factor analysis. For qualitative work, I use an inductive analytic approach, oftentimes referred to as grounded theory, following the work of Charmaz (Constructing Grounded Theory, 2014).

I help maintain and manage internal business architecture for a roastery, education center, and distribution warehouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My main focus is in making our internal business processes more efficient, including the process of creating our weekly roast production schedule, distributing items weekly to local vendors and cafés, and organizing clients within our education center.

Serving specialty coffee to locals and visitors alike. All I wish is to give newcomers a window's view into the world of coffee that I love so much and offering them entry via an artfully crafted cup of coffee.I serve as a teacher for incoming baristas and help to certify them as a baristas in specialty coffee. I am also in charge of coffee procurement - this entails obtaining coffees from all over the state of Michigan, sampling/analyzing these coffees, and deciding which coffees will be served in the shop. Making the decision on how we will prepare and serve these coffees is a part of this role as well.

El Llano, Dominican Republic

I have spent time working in the border region between Haiti and the Dominican Republic with rural Haitian communities. My job as an intern for the Fundacion Mariana San Isidro Labrador (FUMSIL) was to conduct a community census on five remote, Haitian border communities. In year 1 of this project, we created our own survey tools to gather census information on these communities, relating to community demographics, maternal health, and child health. In year two, I realized that the information gathered was not sufficiently comparable to any other data that was collected by governments and NGOs around the world. I recognized a need to go back to the communities and conduct more informed research. I obtained funding from the Dow Fellows Program at the Graham Sustainability Institute to gather more information on community sanitation, maternal health, infant health, and GPS/GIS data. Surveys used include the USAID/KPC Rapid CATCH survey, the WHO sanitation survey, and the RAMOS 4+2 survey for maternal mortality.
