Fifteen years of manufacturing shop floor experience in the welding environment. Extensive background and knowledge in all welding processes including GMAW, GTAW, and RSW. Solid process control understanding of both manual and automatic (robotic) processes as related to weld quality meeting all documented specifications required in a lean manufacturing/ISO/FDA regulated environment. Accomplished Capital Project Engineer with installation of robotic weld cells from layout to full production. Experince in high volume Powder Coating paint line. Responsible for process parameter controls including daily testing to meet company and ASTM paint standards. Member of Hill-Rom "Green Team" on projects to reduce wastes being sent to landfills, energy costs in the factory, and any other cost saving projects.

The Quality Assurance/Regulatory Affairs (QA/RA) Department provides many services, including international product and facility registrations, product quality assurance, risk management, regulatory compliance, process improvement and customer complaint resolution.In addition the department is integrated with other business functions and supports clinical evaluations, new product development, business development, regulatory reporting of adverse events and field corrections, service and repair quality and manufacturing quality.The employees of the QA/RA organization work with other business leaders to enable an effective and efficient global quality system that provides safe and effective products and services for our customers. The department also assures compliance with medical device regulations within the countries in which we do business. The primary charter of QA/RA is continual improvement of our processes, communication of risks and accomplishments, ensuring product and service quality, and achieving total customer satisfaction.

Daily Continuous Improvement activities involved weld fixture improvements, process improvements, poke-yoke devices.. Provided engineering support for five stage Iron Phosphate washer and Powder Coat paint system. Provided welding cost quotes for various in-sourcing weldments for design engineering and new weldment costing for new product development. Supervised five hourly robot programmers and two salary-non-exempt technicians. Wrote and implemented capital requests ranging from $5000 - $150,000 for welding equipment including robots and exhaust units.Implemented capital projects for eight robotic weld cells through the IQ, OQ, and PQ stages using new and used welding robots. Motoman, OTC-Daihen, and Cincinnati Milacron robots.Re-deployed four older robots to move manual welding processes to a more controlled automatic process improving weld defects by 20%. Implemented five welding exhaust units on new and current applications to meet IOSHA guidelines for welding fumes.Implemented cost savings ideas utilizing outside vendors to reduce the price of welding consumables saving $8,000/year and weld wire $54,000/year.Wrote Strategic Investment Proposal to replace manual spray to waste guns with new more efficient spray guns saving $25,000/year and reduced non-toxic waste to local landfill.Worked with new paint supplier to save over $100,000/ year in powder costs.Attained Patent No.6,248,977 for welding torch flash shield with three other Hill-Rom team members.

Provided daily engineering and supervisor support for 20 hourly production welders and one weld technician in a fast-paced high production welding environment. Controlled department spending for annual budget of $150,000 for variable supplies. Met safety, quality, and production goals on a daily basis. Provided engineering support for new production line to launch a new product.Set-up new off-line Advanta product welding line using Kaizen Chuka-Chuka machine principles.Implemented new product line in the same department as current line running up to 124 units/day.

Trained production welders to meet company standards before being released for production welding of Hill-Rom products.
