Known to prior generations as Janczaks, Bummers, Orgals, and Boulpen, Tammy's Place is a local bar & restaurant where ALL are welcome. We strive to embody the true essence of what it means to be a neighbor and to be there to support the community. Our kitchen is open all day and our breakfast regulars have been loyal customers for decades.Though my wife and I are the owners and operators of Tammy's, we prefer to think of ourselves as its "stewards," keeping the ship upright and moving forward until the next neighborhood owner takes over and makes Tammy's even better. We live in Troy Hill and would love nothing more than to pass the torch to another neighbor down the road to write the next chapter of this locally-owned dive bar.As owner and operator of Tammy's Place, I lead all day-to-day operations, including both front of house and back of house activites. Responsibilities includes: providing professional development to up-skill staff, scheduling & hiring, continuous menu improvement, financial analyses of food and bar operations, payroll, and meeting all local and state regulations related to alcohol and food sales. Key initiatives completed or in-process include: upgrading POS and kitchen systems to improve the productivity of bartenders and kitchen staff, improving operational systems to ensure quality and high performance, launching online ordering to increase our accessibility to the neighborhood, and completing a partial renovation to improve kitchen operations, ensure the physical space is fully ADA compliant, increase dining capacity, and -- of course -- give the space a little aesthetic love.

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is part of the University of the State of New York (USNY). The Office of P-12 Education within NYSED oversees 4,400+ schools, 300+ charter schools, 200,000+ teachers, and 2.6+ million students.As an Education Specialist and Strategic Data Project Fellow, I completed a two-year rotation with the Metrics Team in the Office of Accountability reporting to the Associate Commissioner. In this role, I collaborated in the development and refinement of state-wide district and school accountability systems. Responsibilities included project management, modeling the efficacy of systems using historical data, supporting data governance practices, and ad hoc analyses.

The Community College Research Center (CCRC) is the leading independent authority on two-year colleges. Founded in 1996 and based at Teachers College, Columbia University, CCRC conducts research on the issues affecting community colleges and works with colleges and states to improve student success and institutional performance.As a Senior Research Assistant, I worked on on multiple projects analyzing the effectiveness of higher education reforms and understanding the college experience from the student perspective. Research methods include both quantitative and qualitative approaches.

Education Pioneers recruits, develops and connects diverse, talented professionals – including graduate students – to work for K-12 school districts, charter schools, and other education organizations. Since 2003, EP have placed more than 3,000 leaders with education organizations in 20 cities. As an EP fellow, I worked with Teach For America's National Human Assets Strategy Team to develop a predictive model to improve the effectiveness of its annual hiring process for Summer Institute trainers (Corps Member Advisors).

Summer Search is a national college success non-profit. Summer Search works with low-income high school students to transform what they believe is possible for themselves - and help students in seven cities across the country develop the skills and character traits they need to become college-educated leaders who give back to their families and communities.As a program associate and college team lead, I mentored 32 high school students over three years - working together to realize their altruistic leadership potential. I also led the the college advising program for 90+ high school seniors annually, achieving a 100% high school graduation rate, 98% college matriculation rate, and 89% college persistence rate.

Qualitree is a family-owned and operated full-service forestry management, nursery, and tree service company dedicated to sustainability and indigenous species propagation. As Director of Operations, I led multiple teams, negotiated all contracts, and expanded operations from Georgia into Florida and Mississippi. I also coordinated with city and state officials to provide emergency relief services to areas impacted by major weather events along the Atlantic coast of Florida and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Teach For America recruits and develops a diverse corps of outstanding college graduates and professionals to make an initial two-year commitment to teach in high-need schools and become lifelong leaders in the movement to end educational inequity. As a corps member, I taught 6th grade social studies, reading, and math in Franklin, LA, and served as the school's 4-H liaison and faculty sponsor. I additionally taught 10th grade world history and German in Los Angeles, CA, and coordinated the student activist group, Students Organizing Students (SOS).
