As of February 1, 2017, I assumed the position of Chief Operating Officer for M-WERC. Responsibilities include all operations and activities related to the day to day functioning of the consortium and how we serve our members. Ultimately, we serve the Energy, Power, and Controls industry in the Midwest. This industry cluster is comprised of all the industry participants that create and provide technology, components, products, systems, solutions or services tied to serving major energy, power and control segments. Specific COO responsibilities and activity oversight includes:• Membership and Business Development - membership relationships, new member recruiting / prospects management• Marketing & Communications -- all marketing & promotion of events, meetings, webinars, press, media relations • WERCBench Labs and Open Innovation activities - WERCBench Labs programming, mentors & events management• Working Groups and Committees- creation and management of Committees and Working Groups• Events, Meetings, and Webinars - all programming & member meetings, sponsorship & external events• Energy Innovation Center development and expansion - development of the Energy Innovation Center, including office space and lab & prototyping space; management of all future build-out plans and activities; recruit and retain tenants, start-up teams and lab tenants• Grant Acquisition - coordination of grant applications to seek additional revenue funding and diversity by tapping into federal, state, and local grant opportunities

Responsible for growing the membership and revenue base for this fast-growing organization that expanded recently from the state of Wisconsin to an eight-state region. Director of the Energy Innovation Center at the Midwest Energy Research Consortium -- M-WERC.The Energy Innovation Center (EIC) is a facility designed for Energy, Power and Controls technology development programs – providing laboratory and office space for specialized R&D as well as manufacturing and office space for start-up industries. The EIC will also provide resources for support services, including program offices, business support services, economic development organizations, and workforce development activities related to its mission.As Director of the EIC, Jeff will coordinate and oversee M-WERC's efforts to to establish the Energy Innovation Center at the Century City Tower (former Eaton Corp. research building) at 4201 N. 27th St. The EIC will accelerate development of innovative technology in the energy, power and control industry. The center will allow M-WERC to create a unique space to bring together industry and academic scientists, engineers and business leaders to conduct joint research, jump start innovative technologies, transition prototype products to the commercial stage, and nurture start-up companies.This is a key initiative because the energy, power and control industry is one of the fastest- growing sectors with the strongest competitive drivers of any industry sector in the state, and the market for energy technology is expected to expand dramatically in the new few years. The industrial and academic cluster in southeastern Wisconsin already is composed of world-leading companies and research universities.

Responsible for budgets, supervision of staff, and selection and oversight of multiple consultants for three business functions: utility outreach, business development, and membership – as well as coordination of industry standards, R&D, and related technical support activities.• Led and coordinated efforts to overhaul membership and increase membership revenues from $7.9 million in 2013 to $9.4 million in 2014 by increasing top-level membership categories, adding additional value-added products and expanding Strategic Committees for members of the U.S. wind energy industry.• Managed efforts to expand Committees and Working Groups for U.S. wind energy companies to collaborate on industry issues and share information between members to accomplish industry directives and information-sharing initiatives.• Created, organized, and facilitated a new “Corporate Purchasers” initiative to get large, Fortune 100 companies purchasing increasing amounts of wind energy to integrate with AWEA and become corporate sponsors. Reformed and reinvigorated a membership team by redefining roles, changing job descriptions, and optimizing performance in a group of membership professionals.

Established new Business Development functions for growing revenues and expanding member segments by identifying, prioritizing, and acquiring new business members in the Association. • Led the AWEA Supply Chain initiative to rapidly grow the manufacturing sector of the U.S. wind energy industry. Added over 1000 new members, creating membership revenues of $2 million from new Supply Chain and Manufacturing AWEA events, expanded presence at WINDPOWER annual trade show, and AWEA Manufacturing Working Group activities.• Initiated and created new events to diversify AWEA events revenue, including Supply Chain & Manufacturing workshops and new Wind Energy Regional Summits, resulting in several thousand attendees and over $1 million of revenue over several years.• Created and optimized new systems to acquire and retain new business members in several systems, including a focus on segment-specific recruitment and engagement efforts, and a systematic way of bringing in new business from non-AWEA industry events – both domestic and international.

As the first-ever AWEA’s Manager of Utility Programs and Services, responsible for working with and consulting with utilities in their efforts to integrate and adopt wind power as a mainstream generation technology. • Managed all efforts to expand AWEA activities to electric utilities across the U.S. including cross-functional activities to integrate policy efforts on transmission expansion and wind integration activities. Included strong focus on revenue-generating activities such as utility participation and presentations at events and growing utility members in AWEA.• Created new outreach services to grow attendance at events, including engagement and partnerships with a wide range of organizations and individuals in target markets to enhance and grow event revenues.• Coordinated efforts of multiple consultants to provide direct services and consulting to utility members and creation of strategic reports and webinars to serve those members.• Led efforts to engage utilities across the U.S. in the new “AWEA Utility Working Group” including specific utility consulting activities and monthly webinars.• Created an aggressive schedule of attending and speaking at utility-related events across the U.S. on wind power benefits and operational considerations. Averaged 10-12 presentations at industry events each year starting in 2008.

Responsible for company’s strategy and implementation related to Renewable Energy; direct responsibility for expansion of renewable energy program. Highly active in multiple state and national initiatives related to renewable energy growth as well.• Supervised multi-disciplinary team of professionals, consultants and support staff to direct multiple programs and responsibilities in wind, solar, and biomass energy, distributed generation, alternative fuel vehicles, and research and development with total annual budgets for all areas over $8 million per year.• Led efforts to procure 200MW of wind energy which ultimately led to decision to take on ownership and construction responsibility for $383 million “Blue Sky Green Field” wind project in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. • Launched sixteen “Renewable Energy Development” programs in 2006, to expand utility-scale and customer-owned renewable energy generation and to facilitate market development activities. Successfully obtained utility Rate Case approval for $ 11.5 million budget over a two year period.• Quadrupled sales to large business customers over a two-year period to increase program revenues by $500,000 per year.

Concurrent with the role of Manager of Renewable Energy Strategy, in 2004 was assigned responsibility for overseeing the company’s R&D Program. • Managed corporate R&D budget of over $2 million annually.• Actively participated in the EPRI “Technology Management Committee”, serving on two task forces.• Integrated all corporate EPRI R&D activities and functions in several business units, including coordination of annual selections and collaborative projects.

Led company’s implementation of retail access and customer choice for all Michigan operations.

Facilitated company’s strategic planning processes including managing all initiatives in Customer Satisfaction and Employee Satisfaction efforts.

Quality Assurance Engineer for 18 months before being promoted to supervisor to start-up a new on-site quality assurance organization in 1989. Promoted to Manager - Nuclear Quality Assurance and member of the Senior Nuclear Management Team under Chief Nuclear Officer in 1992, with overall responsibility for quality assurance and oversight of nuclear operations at two-unit nuclear generating plant.
