System Engineer & Technical Account Manager. Engineer solutions for all aspects of customer's IT needs. Specify, install and maintain server and virtual server environments, local and wide area networking, firewalls, premise and hosted email solutions. Provide senior engineering support to system administrators and technicians.

As Team Manager I provide oversight for the services provided to multiple customers and maintain relationships with those customers. As a Senior Systems Engineer I provide consulting, implementation and troubleshooting services to customers with both on-premise servers and cloud-based systems. Top level escalation point for all aspects of service. Member of our cloud management team that develops, implements and manages our multiple cloud offerings.

In addition to working on IT problems all day I somehow find the time to direct the activities of our area competitive (travel) soccer club. We've grown the club in the last few years from a two teams (one girls, one boys) to 8 teams and 100 players. I've also been coaching with the club since 2004 and quite frankly love it.

I started CompuNET in 1993 when the company I was working for decided to get out of the business. CompuNET has seen steady business since its inception and with my previous experience we've been able to bring a high level of knowledge to this rural part of Maine. We provide comprehensive services based on the needs of the customer from full IT management to augmenting in-house staff with our expertise. I've been able to keep up-to-date on technology implementing the latest hardware and software when the customer's needs merit it. Being self-employed I've not had the time to take off to pursue the various certifications that exist for the products I'm using. Having met many CNEs, MSCEs, CCNAs that didn't have the depth of knowledge or hands on experience that I have made it questionable in my mind that the certifications would be any more than paying money for a piece of paper. I've entertained trying to 'test out' of some, but even that requires many days away from my customers resolving their problems.

Trillium provided computer sales, service and consulting as part of the Western Maine Health family. Originally started as a doctor's office billing software provided the company expanded to provide a full range of IT services to the area. I brought a comprehensive set of network, hardware and software experience to the company and expanded it's base to include customers in 16 counties. The non-profit organization that "owned" Trillium decided in the fall of '92 to get out of the for-profit computer business. Since the consulting part of Trillium was doing well I decided to continue on my on and started CompuNET.

Zenith was working on a critical bid for the US Senate. I was working on relocating to Maine but they wanted me to provide them with whatever time I could before I moved. I returned to Zenith and helped them finish out the proposal before my next move. They tried very hard to keep me there but I had an offer in Maine that suited my needs and decided to make the change.

When I joined Trellis they were strictly focused on Banyan Vines andToken Ring consulting, sales and installations. Not having any prior Vines experience I took the job at a significant salary cut knowing I would prove my worth and be compensated later. I had introduced new revenue streams by servicing not only the Vines servers, but also the desktops and networked peripherals. We also started implementing Novell Netware on smaller systems. In my six months with the company I generated $120K in consulting sales (nearly a third of the 4 man office income), second only to Jack Madigan who generated about 1/2 of the total revenues. During my short stay I had become proficient enough in Vines administration to be teaching classes at companies such as Shell who had 60 servers and 3000 workstations at their New Orleans corporate offices. I spent the better part of a week at that location alone teaching multiple administration classes. During my 6 month review the partners running the DC office where I worked decided to implement a wage increase limit that didn't meet my needs. After entertaining offers from the partner running their Boston office, who didn't feel the need to impose such limits. I decided to relocate back to Maine or NH if possible as Boston didn't appeal to me at the time.

After 8 years in the Air Force my extensive experience in microcomputers paid off with an offer from Zenith to work in the Federal Systems Group. I joined the sales engineering group working on securing federal bids. After landing in McLean, VA I was immediately sent to Cupertino, CA to work on a project with SCO, HP and Corollary to develop a multi-processor unix platform. I worked on numerous bid requests and interfaced between zenith and a number of software and hardware companies over the years. Working for a bona-fide computer manufacturer we were hands-on with the newest technologies as they emerged from the design engineers. In addition to working with Unix developers at SCO and Interactive I also worked extensively on our in-house network using Netware 286 followed by Netware 386. Having worked together on some bids I had access to the engineers at Novell and was proficient in the OS before certifications like CNA and CNE became mainstream.

Shortly after my arrival we decided to change the development platform from dBase to 'C' to overcome limitations they were experiencing. I developed many of the system level functions for the Security Police Automated System.

I worked on a small team providing all levels of small computer support to the European Command. The user manuals back then were closer to technical manuals, which was good because we had to self-teach ourselves. We developed and taught courses in database design, word processing, electronic spreadsheets, general computer use. I personally taught over 400 people across the continent. All new system requests came through us for approval and configuration. We personally setup the hardware and provided instruction prior to the end user obtaining the systems.
