I am currently one of the three Directors of Community Development at GrantWorks in Austin, TX. GrantWorks provides grant administration and management services for community and economic development, infrastructure, disaster recovery and similar activities that promote physical and economic well-being for more than 300 local government clients and state agencies. The Community Development Project Management team are the coordinators of public infrastructure construction projects funded by federal and state grants, primarily from the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and Disaster Recovery funding allocated for Hurricane Harvey. These projects typically are for the construction of improvements to public water and wastewater systems but may include road, drainage, building, park or housing improvement activities and can also be related to disaster recovery. I help train CD Project Managers to coordinate and manage multiple moderately complex projects at various stages of implementation, in coordination with company management and client services/business development staff, as well as Senior PMs on how to effectively conduct Mini DL, review common pitfalls, questions to escalate. I write and review SOPs and update templates, lead and attend training sessions, perform internal quality control audit once a month, and communicate effective strategies to employees.
