Regulatory changes and advances in technology have exposed community banks to increased competition, but they have also provided well-managed community banks with a potentially exploitable strategic position in the industry. My name is Jeffrey Jenkins and for the past 15 years I have held senior and executive management positions with local community banks, helping them to grow strategically and to deliver traditional banking services to the communities they served. Having been a founding member and executive officer of two community banks, I was the primary liaison with bank regulators during the organizational period of both institutions and was also responsible for vendor selection, implementation of bank systems and drafting of policies and procedures. My responsibilities post-opening included management of all areas of the bank outside of business development and credit related functions, which in both cases helped nurture growth to the point where each bank merged or was acquired by a larger institution.Having worked my way from a bank management trainee to Executive Vice President, I have observed the transition in the industry and the evolution of services desired by consumers and businesses. I helped those organizations to adapt to these changes and to thrive as a financial institution. Though the banking industry has changed, the small business sector relies on small local banks for credit and innovative services. Therefore, there is an enormous opportunity for those that can navigate the challenges facing the industry: consolidation, uneven economic recovery, increasing regulations, technological advancements and changing demographics.I am looking for an opportunity to utilize my skills, talents and experience to assist a growth oriented financial institution to expand its offerings to their community.
