I first started working in the optical field in 1990 with Fortney eye care located in Warren, Michigan. In that position, I worked exclusively as a laboratory technician and selected the appropriate lenses based upon the prescription provided by the Optometrist, ground lenses to the appropriate thickness, finished, polished and edged them to fit into the customer's selected frames. I was subsequently cross-trained as a dispensing optician. I successfully utilized my skills as a dispensing optician, a lens fabricator and an insurance billing assistant for the processing and submitting of insurance claims with the above-mentioned Optometrist locations. In total, I have over 6 years of complete comprehensive experience in the optical field. I have concluded that although the swimming pool industry was very successful and profitable, I decided to sell my business and all assets and possibly pursue another long-time career in the field of optics or possibly a totally different field of business with an organization that has longevity, strength, overall success, and financial stability.
