Teacher of Emergency Medical Technology & Public Safety for high school students as part of the Career Technology Education (CTE) program for Gaston County Schools. The goal of the curriculum is to prepare students for career pathways in EMS and Public safety; and to specifically prepare EMT students for the North Carolina EMT Exam to guide them toward achieving certification.

Evaluates written application materials for compliance to CAAS standards from agencies seeking accreditation. Visits agencies "on-site" to inspect and review agency facilities, records, practices and find fact regarding CAAS standards compliance. Subsequently reports findings of fact back to CAAS in written reports for subsequent consideration by the CAAS Board of Directors.

Distinguishing Features of the ClassAn employee in this class is responsible for assisting the director by providing logistical support including planning, developing, and administering the programs affecting the delivery of emergency medical services and transportation service to citizens and management of billing operations, revenue generation, and quality improvement. Emphasis of the work is on administrative functions related to monitoring and evaluating organizational goals and objectives, budgeting of fiscal, material, and staff resources, setting and measuring employee performance standards, and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and medical standards of care. Additional responsibilities include engendering public confidence in program operations, resolving complaints, and fostering effective relationships with other governmental agencies, volunteer rescue organizations, and medical institutions. Work is performed under general supervision of the EMS Director and is evaluated through written reports, personal conferences, and attainment of specific performance objectives. Supervision is exercised over supervisory, technical, and clerical personnel through work assignment, training, performance evaluations, incident report review, and through evaluation of service delivery by other agencies receiving or providing emergency medical services. This position is Exempt and is subject to being "on call" on a 24-hour basis.
