Barstool Sports is one of the most influential lifestyle brands in America. With a rich 20-year history, Barstool Sports has one of the most highly coveted, fiercely loyal, and incredibly engaged audiences, which has put Barstool at the top of the charts.

I began working with Barstool in 2009 and have managed and architected their infrustructure since. Although Barstool Sports is "simply" a WordPress site, it's a large, high traffic, WordPress site, that went from pulling in over 40 million page views a month, to 250 million. Along with continuing to hone my front-end and back-end skills, Barstool introduced me to dealing with the technologies that come with managing a high traffic site like caching, load balancing, and optimization.

My primary focus at Love the Action, was architecting and building out the website and resources used to create the site. This covers a wide variety of responsibilities that had me writing jQuery objects, building out an API's in Rails, working with Varnish to increase the load our servers could handle, writing integration tests with Selenium, and lots more.The site started out in PHP several years ago, and I continued to build out new features using this language. Recently we have moved over to a Rails API and a Ember based Front-end site hosted on Firebase. New features included general enhancements to the site, a mobile site, and an oAuth2 API that drives both Android and iOS devices.Since architecting the system I have moved into an Advisory role.

At Gazelle, I was primarily responsible for enhancing the user experience throughout the site on the front-end. However, I was also given the opportunity to do a good deal of work on the backend, which helped hone my skills in Ruby on Rails.

As a contractor working for the Department of State, my duties were to building apps on a wide variety of platforms that could help support embassies across the world. The platforms include everything from Facebook, Web applications, native, and mobile iPhone apps. I also am in charge of managing and maintaining an Amazon Cloud based server (AWS RDS.)

During my time with Windwalker, I led a small team comprised of an animator/illustrator and two other developers.  We have built four major CBT's (Computer Based Training,) for the Army and DoD.  While my main role was the system architect, I also helped manage the projects, making sure they came together in a timely fashion under aggressive deadlines.  All projects were built dynamically using primarily Actionscript 3, so that the client could later modify the content with little XML knowledge.  All four projects were also 508 compliant.
