In this position I am a member of the plant leadership team and provide financial leadership to the plant and oversee the plant’s internal control environment. While in this position I have been a part of a multi-million dollar plant expansion creating a new production line. Improvements have included tightening the controls environment and improved financial reporting accuracy and efficiency. In this position I act as the primary accountant for three manufacturing facilities across multiple states and handle multiple division wide accounting functions. While in this position I have improved the monthly commercial forecast and annual budget process through redesigning models and templates which have increased accuracy and simplicity. I have also acted as the division lead for the company’s Planful implementation. My responsibilities include: Monthly general ledger including journal entries and account reconciliations. Maintain accurate product inventory valuation through standard cost reviews and updates, FIFO valuation, monthly inventory count adjustments, and annual full physical inventory counts. Manage accounting for capital projects and fixed asset activity. Monthly financial reporting and variance analysis. Monitor division accounts payable issues and coordinate resolution. Maintain SOX controls and perform annual testing. Create and compile the annual plant and division operating budgets.

While in this position I handled the monthly forecast, annual budget, and commercial level accounting function for two product lines. I worked directly with product line management and supported them as they managed the business and sought ways to improve profitability. My responsibilities included: Manage the monthly forecast and close process for assigned product lines. Create and maintain the current month and annual forecast monthly. Perform variance analysis on a monthly and ad hoc basis to support product line operations. Create and distribute monthly reporting packages to product line management. Coordinate and create an annual budget for assigned product lines including entering data into SAP. Maintain SOX controls and perform annual testing.

This position involved providing decision makers with the information they need to run the company. My team worked for the CFO and our primary focus was on consolidating, analyzing, and reporting company operations and budgets to senior management including the CEO and Board of Directors. My responsibilities included: Oversee the reporting of financial and other relevant information for multiple product lines. Ensure variance analysis appropriately explains the significant drivers by working with the product line financial analysts and others to obtain an understanding of the data and information. Assist in answering questions from the leadership team, board members, and other interested parties. Maintain and improve reporting utilizing Excel, Essbase, Hyperion Planning, and SAP. Annual budgeting including coordination with the product lines and Corporate Planning and Development, and the creation of the consolidated budget summary and presentation files. Research variances and create ad hoc reports as needed. Ensure the accuracy of financial data being reported by working with the product lines to record and correct information housed within Essbase and Hyperion Planning.

This position involved helping plant operations understand their financial numbers to reduce costs and help make the plant more profitable. I had the opportunity to make multiple process improvements including overhauling the budget process through the creation of a budget management SharePoint site and Excel templates to simplify and improve the budgeting process for cost center owners and plant accounting. I used Excel PowerPivot to improve multiple monthly reports by making the reports more dynamic and increasing their usability and relevance for report users. I also created cost and other tracking reports to aid plant personnel in their job functions. My responsibilities included: Review plant cost centers to ensure transactions were recorded correctly. Prepare and enter journal entries and statistical key figures into SAP. Provide variance analysis and monthly product line reporting for headquarters and the plant. Prepare monthly product cost reports for all products produced. Prepare ad-hoc analysis to support plant operations and other departments. Assist and participate in the annual budget development and coordination. Maintain SOX documentation and perform testing.

This position’s primary focus was on fixed assets and general ledger accounting. While in this position I made significant improvements to the group’s processes by using Microsoft Office tools including SharePoint, Access, and Excel to streamline and improve records management and storage, project tracking, and group metrics. I also updated multiple reports within the group to increase the accessibility and accuracy of information and reduce the likelihood of errors. My responsibilities included: Fixed asset accounting duties including project closures, asset creation, transfers, sales, retirements and review of Authorization for Expenditure documentation. Preparation and distribution of reports covering various periods and aspects of fixed asset accounting. Perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure that accounts are correctly recorded. Prepare and enter journal entries in SAP.

My time at Deloitte was spent serving audit clients at the Houston office. I began as an Audit Associate and progressed to an Audit Senior level. I had the opportunity to act as the Lead Senior on multiple client engagements which required me to maintain client relationships while exhibiting a high degree of professionalism at all times. My responsibilities included:Perform financial audits of both public and privately-held companies in a variety of industries, including Oil & Gas Transmission, International Energy, Manufacturing, and Benefit Plans.Supervise less experienced staff members and direct them in correct audit methodology.Review staff audit testing and provide comments to ensure documentation was in compliance with Deloitte Audit Standards.
