Responsible for managing the finance and accounting department at Temple Beth Elohim

•Responsible for leading and directing the accounting and financial reporting functions, implement investment and reserve strategies, and manage the IT functions for the SIR, SIR Foundation, and the IVC Filter Foundation Study Group Foundation. Investments grew 45% over the last 5 years including the establishment of a quasi endowment to support operations.•Annual revenue for SIR increased from $9.1M to $12.1M over the last 5 years.•Trustee of SIR’s 401k investment plan including the development of a 457b plan for our executive director. Analyze fund performance and sunset funds that are underperforming and add replacement funds with assistance from our broker.•Partner with the HR Director to develop an onboarding process for new staff, implement a new compensation plan, and assist with the annual renewal for the 401k, health, life, and disability benefit plans. Promote 401k plan to staff which has an 85% participation rate. •Manage equipment and building lease negotiations for the organization, including office redesign and relocation projects. Saved the organization approximately $250k per year during latest lease negotiations.•Direct IT strategic roadmap plan and implement recommendations over a 2 to 3 year period. Project managed the implementation and upgrades of major systems including association management and accounting/budget ERP applications. •Protected SIR assets by having meeting cancelation insurance during the pandemic. $2M claim covered the budgeted lost net income from the canceled meeting.•Collaborate with staff stakeholders to develop operational KPIs to monitor operational performance and identify shifts in business trends and assumptions. Report monthly to Executive and Sr. Management teams.•Implemented membership strategies which increased annual membership revenue from $2.9M to $3.4M (17%).of the organization.•Developed business plan and implemented a residency education program which added $130k in net revenue to the SIR budget.

•Lead staff liaison for the organizations human resources function, working with a third party firm to help direct HR programming and directing the accounting department.•Administer the organizations deferred 401k compensation plan and health benefit plans.•Maintain vendor relationships, including the RFP process with outside vendors, bankers, insurance companies and investment firm and report activity to the Executive Director, Treasurer, and Finance Committee.•Run SIR and SIR Foundation finance committee meetings. Prepare committee meeting agendas, reports and other materials for meetings held 3xs a year. •Develop and prepare treasurer reports for board and member business meeting presentations.•Lead the budget development process for both operating and capital budgets, working with 13 other directors and executive team to develop the annual budget. •Prepare and coordinate the annual audit with the external auditors and the Finance Committee chair and ensure implementations of audit recommendations.•Responsible for maintaining the organizations lease with our landlord.•Developed and adopted the organizations first full cycle accounting manual.•Update and maintain all Society accounting financial applications.

•Financial oversight includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll functions, month end close, review of general ledger account reconciliations, annual audit preparation, assist staff in annual budget preparation, and ensure preparation of end of year tax returns. •Working out of the corporate headquarters assisted in the day to day oversight and monitoring of metro market operations to ensure the integrity of financial data for 20 metro markets and act as a liaison between the field and corporate management. •Performed monthly JEs and reconciliations in support of the monthly close process.•Documented all financial close standard operating procedures.•Performed quarterly financial and circulation analysis in support of the quarterly Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) audits. •Developed a subscriber sales tax report that summarized sales tax data precisely for the corporate sales tax department and was used to verity against system generated sales tax returns.
