A client-facing and project management role. In the client-facing aspect, my role was pivotal in communicating and promoting the company’s products to potential clients and delivering product training for clients and staff. The crafting of presentations to clients entailed research data analysis and comparative market studies with coherent and intuitive data-driven visualizations to create an impact on the audience. For project management, projects involving new products or adaptation of existing products were brought from conceptualization to final print under tight deadlines within budget. Working closely with editors, designers, freelancers and clients, I oversaw the design and editorial aspects of such projects to ensure timely delivery of products.

Presented with an opportunity, I ventured into a price reporting editorial role in the petrochemical industry. There, I wrote feature articles for the organization’s website, magazines and conference materials, by manipulating, synthesizing and analyzing large datasets to produce meaningful statistics and insights of various related chemicals. Also, I produced periodic data-driven reports on prices and trends in the monoethylene glycol and polyester markets. The role exposed me to a wide spectrum of industry participants, including producers, traders, distributers and end-users during daily tele-communications as well as in-person meetings at various international conferences.

I honed my editorial skills in this role, after leaving an education position. I worked with overseas publishers and end-users by liaising with these partners to gather business requirements in terms of their editorial and design issues for new products and coordinated the design and editorial aspects of these projects between local staff and overseas publishers. The skills of managing projects, including keeping budgets and schedules, were acquired and honed in the execution of this role.
