Chief Of Police
CurrentSince arriving in Westwood we have been at the forefront of several exciting initiatives, and have been the first agency in the state on numerous occasions to implement progressive policies, practices, and equipment for a staff of over fifty public safety professionals.I have consistently worked in collaboration with team members within the department, the town and the community to ensure the safe, engaged and secure suburban feel of our community while modernizing our policies, practices, programs, facility, equipment and staff. We negotiated the removal of an inflexible and non-inclusive civil service hiring process, designed and modernized a new non-civil service hiring process allowing us to enhance increase diversity while consistently recruiting, hiring, retaining and promoting top quality team members. We also built a new public safety facility in 2017 ahead of schedule and under budget, have increased staffing, added job enlargement opportunities, modernized equipment, and fostered a culture of meritocracy while exponentially increasing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging throughout our recruitment, procedural and promotional processes. In my role as the liaison for the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association to the Massachusetts Major City Chiefs Association, I have interacted with chief law enforcement executives about issues, policies and practices affecting the smallest to the largest police departments in the commonwealth (including our state and federal partners). In addition to my duties as Chief of Police, as the President of the Metropolitan (Boston) Law Enforcement Council (METROLEC) or through agreements in Bristol, Norfolk and Middlesex Counties, I share command of several hundred officers in total from the nearly (50) participating municipal jurisdictions leading and coordinating regional police resources and assets throughout the metropolitan Boston area.
