Fluid Mechanics Department- Executed Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) investigations of Delta IV Second Stage LOX Tanks to assess the effects of propellant sloshing on pressure collapse- Became more familiarized with FLOW3D and FieldView in order to perform CFD simulations and extract information needed, such as liquid surface, wetted, and quench areas- Examined tank pressure collapse issues by collaborating with my superior to study the fluid behavior and conditions surrounding the problem, and analyze possible solutions to mitigate sloshing- Conducted a literature search on liquid jet breakup, sprays, and drop size for the development of a two phase nozzle system using all print and online resources available to the company- Communicated accomplished work at the end of each summer using a powerpoint presentation to upper management, supervisors and team members of the Fluid Mechanics department
