The North Carolina Office of Recovery and Resiliency (NCORR), Division of the Department of Public Safety is a new Office, responsible for executing multi-year recovery and resiliency projects related to damage sustained in Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. The work will be focused on supporting survivors and communities impacted by Hurricanes Matthew and Florence and their recovery. Supervise NCORR Housing Specialists, manage the workflow, training, and development of the Housing Specialists positions. Author and edit original and existing Homeowner Recovery Program Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain, review, and recommend edits to the Single-Family Program (SFHP) including but not limited to: all SFHP Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), all awards quality control checklists, System of Record modules and build-outs, and environmental review processes. Ensure that NCORR SFHP awards are developed and offered in compliance with all HUD and NCORR policies and regulations. Ensure that NCORR's Homeowner Recovery Housing Specialists are meeting timelines and requirements of award quality control. Several projects with varied contractors will be occurring in different counties, develop procedures for uniform outcomes across varied local NCORR centers. Utilize the SFHP Housing Manual to establish standards. Manage the NCORR Program Management contractor: ensure that the contract team is meeting all expectations and obligations of the contract; review and monitor contractor timelines and adherence to performance timelines under the contract. Assist the NCORR Deputy Housing Programs Director with invoice review of the Program Management contractor.

Teaching undergraduate courses on Greek and Roman culture within the Department of Classics. These courses will introduce students to the history,political, artistic and physical development, and religious practices and settings of each culture.

Team teaching courses in maritime archaeology in the Department of Archaeology with Dr. Jon Henderson. Subject material includes ancient seafaring in the Mediterranean, ports and harbors during the Greek and Roman eras, and naval warfare during the Roman Republic.

This project's goals were to survey and document submerged cultural resources along the eastern shores of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas along what was once the ancient Illyrian coast. Through a cooperative effort between Albania, Montenegro, and Croatia it is envisioned that scholarship, site protection, and addressing illegal antiquities trade can better be addressed. Participating groups from each country include Cultural Ministries, Tourist Ministries, law enforcement agencies, universities, as well as US Government agencies and State Department representatives. Objectives include the coordination of project planning, documentation, and system implementation; oversee operations of vessel crew and technicians, analysis of multibeam data, coordinate ROV deployment and documentation of sites, dive operations on sites, as well as the recovery, recording, and documentation of artifacts. During my tenure, this was an archaeological project to document the cultural resources in the Egadi Islands off the NW coast of Sicily; particularly around the island of Levanzo. This project is partnered with Sopretendenze del Mare de Sicilia, and represented by the Co-Director Dr. Sebastiano Tusa. Objectives include the coordination of project planning, documentation, and system implementation; analysis of multibeam data, coordinate ROV deployment and documentation of sites, ROV dive operations on sites, as well as the recovery, recording, and documentation of artifacts; oversight, mapping, and artifact documentation/field analysis. A 4th-century CE Levanzo I wrecksite has been examined and published. Additionally, the first ancient naval battle landscape has been discovered and is now under study. This site was the Battle of the Egadi Islands, between the Romans and Carthaginians in 241 BCE. The largest contextual find of warship rams and bronze helmets are among the artifacts comprising the battle landscape. For publications and more information see www.academia.edu.

Department of Classical Archaeology, Philipps University, Marburg, Germany. This position was part of an EU-funded initiative by Marburg University to widen the program within the Department of Classical Archaeology. Developed and taught one undergraduate lecture and two graduate seminar courses: Ancient Naval Warfare in the Mediterranean, Ships and Shipping in the Ancient Mediterranean and Mediterranean Seafaring: the Roman Era.

RPM Nautical Foundation is a non-profit (US 501 c 3) research and educational organization that performs maritime archaeological research in the Mediterranean. Our supported institution is the Program for Maritime Studies at East Carolina University. Among the goals for RPMNF is the effort to assist Mediterranean countries with the location, identification, assessment, and research of their submerged cultural material so that these important cultural resources can be protected for future generations. Accordingly, our projects are carried out in conjunction with host governments in the Mediterranean and serve as a crucial component in the effort to protect submerged archaeological sites and maritime heritage in association with UNESCO’s efforts to preserve world heritage sites.RPMNF conducts maritime archaeology through intensive and systematic use of advanced technologies in littoral survey. RPMNF’s research vessel, the R/V Hercules, is a purpose-built maritime archaeological platform that has seafloor mapping capabilities and ROV operation. The vessel is flagged in Malta and based in Valetta. The ROV is employed for video and image documentation, sampling, artifact retrieval, and limited excavation of sites. To date, project areas include Spain, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Malta, Morocco, Cyprus, Sicily, Amalfi and Calabria in Italy, and Turkey. All archaeological work is performed in conjunction with the host country’s cultural authority, such that the projects assist in both scholarly research and educational opportunities, and provides their cultural authorities pertinent information for protecting their submerged archaeological resources.
