• Wrote and executed the plan to create the new Global Experiences Office (GEO) in response to COVID-19, extending the product portfolio to include domestic experiential learning, virtual coursework, and programming for international students in their home countries generating more than $1M in net revenue in the first 8 months of existence.• Manage a staff of 23 across 7 locations including recruiting, performance management, annual goal setting, professional development, and coaching.• Led the Study Abroad Office through its transition to the Global Experiences Office, steadying an uncertain budgetary and staffing structure, and returning to financial and programmatic health through the pandemic. • Launched the office while simultaneously redesigning its mission, core values, marketing and communications strategy and materials, and customer base.

• Led the Study Abroad Office to an increase of over 900 participants (from 1200 to 2100) since 2010; a jump that vaulted the University into the top 40 sending institutions in the country.• Built and/or oversaw the development of more than 70 study abroad programs (a 700% increase) and 20 bilateral exchange agreements (a 200% increase), balancing the program portfolio.• Manage a staff of 11 direct positions, 10 shared positions, 2 graduate student assistants, and an undergraduate intern program.• Balance all office budgets accounting for over $8M in revenue. • Work with institutional advancement to identify new funding opportunities, meet with potential donors, and secure annual gifts and endowments resulting in over $1M in scholarship funding.• Implemented technological upgrades including TerraDotta for all facets of the study abroad process, Drupal for an upgraded web presence, and SharePoint for project management. • Collaborate with senior leaders to standardize and streamline program management processes including proposals for new programs and program changes, designing and balancing all program budgets, obtaining University approvals, and facilitating all post-approval details. • Chair and/or participate on numerous University and regional committees such as the Pittsburgh Study Abroad Re-entry Conference, Pitt’s International Week, UCIS 50th Anniversary, Health and Safety Abroad, and Staff Benefits.

• Managed over 25 faculty-led study abroad programs, called Panther Programs, spanning 21 countries which led the strategic redevelopment of the entire Study Abroad Office, pivoting from large reliance on programs through third-party to homegrown programming using University faculty and resources to deliver the product. • Responsible for all sales, marketing, and logistics for Panther Programs including direct contact with customers, continued servicing of customers through orientation programs, and widespread marketing through University and national channels, which resulted in the increase of students participating on Panther Programs• Promoted Panther Programs through outreach events, classroom visits, web resources, information sessions, and open advising hours • Produced and wrote the feature-length documentary entitled: Making It Happen: Study Abroad for Students with Disabilities; Managed Study Abroad Office intern program; Managed Study Abroad Office website.

Co-facilitated a team of graduate researchers on a variety of grant projects related to human security issues in African conflicts; Wrote and edited reports and policy briefs outlining the most salient aspects of the research. Policy and reports were utilized by such organizations as the United States Institute for Peace, the Canadian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo. Major publications include: - Protecting Civilians: Key Determinants in the Effectiveness of a Peacekeeping Force - What Makes a Camp Safe? The Protection of Children from Abduction in IDP and Refugee Camps

Coordinated all promotional events such as the bi-annual International Fair, Photo Contest, and “Essentials”, a mandatory group advising session; Assisted with spot editing for Study Abroad website, Student Handbook, and Pre-Departure Guide; Provided initial advising for prospective study abroad students; Wrote the Outreach Assistant role given the need for additional marketing and communication to reach new customers.
