Serve as Senior Network Engineer providing expertise in network design and support for Smiley Technologies' enterprise and customer networks. Smiley develops and supports banking software for financial institutions and serves as a managed service provider for some of their customers. We design, administer and support 125+ locations across all customers.Support the necessary network connectivity for each customer to our data center and DR site that provides the core banking services we offer. This is provided through a Cisco Meraki SDWAN solution that also provides interconnectivity for all of the customer banks, ATMs and other supporting locations. Some sites also utilize Switched Ethernet as a primary service while using the SDWAN as a secondary. We work with the customer to offer the necessary SLAs for connectivity to meet their business objectives.Palo Alto and Cisco FTD firewalls provide the necessary layered security. Manage the Palo firewalls with Panorama. Cisco FTD firewalls are managed through Cisco Defense Orchestrator (CDO).Some customers utilize a Palo Alto GlobalProtect Client VPN solution while others utilize the Cisco Secure Client VPN solution.Azure Cloud houses the online banking front-end while ExpressRoute provides connectivity between Azure and the banking data. IPsec is used as failover. Cloudflare provides the web application firewall services for online banking.

Provide expertise related to network architecture and planning with consideration of a 5 year roadmap. Includes recommendations on technology selection and improvements with security following best practices using HiTrust as a guide. Led a firewall vendor selection project evaluating three different vendors through which Palo Alto firewalls were chosen to provide both security and SD-WAN functions. Panorama deployed to manage 20+ pairs of firewalls. Planned network architecture for new Surgery Center. Planned and implemented a new Internet circuit using BGP peering to prepare for future Internet failover. Supported 250 existing sites spanning multiple business segments.Data centers included several cloud providers including Rackspace, Azure and Google Cloud. Multiple remote office models implemented using some combination of 1 or 2 service providers, 1 or 2 Silverpeak SDWAN appliances, 1 or 2 Cisco ASA firewalls and 1 to many access switches. Static and BGP routing utilized consistently with new and standardized sites with some legacy sites using some OSPF and EIGRP. Most sites were designed for local Internet breakout and security functions utilized zScaler in the cloud. VTI tunnels often used as redundant paths to data centers.Worked in conjunction with other architects to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities and harden firewalls.

Manage and maintain the network infrastructure for two Tier 3 data centers, 6 buildings within the MAN and 11 remote offices. Network utilizes a Multi-Gig UVN (DWDM) ring to provide connectivity between data centers as well as GIGAMAN and MPLS services. DMVPN and Cisco Meraki solutions provide services for work-at-home users as well as serves as part of our DR strategy. Several SSVPN’s provide connectivity with partners and vendors. Serve as the technical lead for overall network design and strategies. Designed and implemented the network infrastructure of two new data centers utilizing the Cisco Nexus platform. Configure and administer complex LAN and WAN technologies including Cisco products such as the 2960, 3560, 3750, 3850, 9300, 6500 (VSS) and 6800 (VSS) series switches, G1 and G2 ISR routers, ASR Routers and Adaptive Security Appliances. Designed and implemented MPLS for internal purposes.Other responsibilities include routinely upgrade Cisco IOS and NX-OS, and implement layer 2 security such as port security, DHCP snooping and bpdu guard. Use LAN expertise including knowledge of IP addressing, subnetting, VRF, VLAN, STP and VTP to configure and troubleshoot connectivity. Essentially the “owner” of the IP address space for ABCBS. Also offered training for customers and written instructions to maintain equipment. Worked closely with other departments to provide clients with the best possible technical solutions. Assisted in the role-out of Wayport high speed WiFi wireless service for local McDonalds and UPS stores. Also provided on-site technical training for the State of Arkansas for the change of election management software. Led in the successful configuration and deployment of 40 new workstations for the Little Rock Housing Authority and assisted in setting up branch office VPN connections for six of their remote offices. Completed an Exchange 2000 migration to Exchange 2003 for the American Red Cross.
