My legal experience encompasses:•Representing townships, municipalities, special governmental entities, developers and individuals in a variety of real estate, land use, zoning and constitutional disputes both before administrative agencies and state and federal courts throughout Ohio; •Representing governmental and private clients in eminent domain/appropriation matters; and •Representing clients in the Ohio Supreme Court and appellate courts throughout Ohio. My litigation successes include:•DeVries Dairy, L.L.C. v. White Eagle Coop. Assn., Inc., 132 Ohio St.3d 516, 974 N.E.2d 1194, 2012-Ohio-3828 (Ohio law does not recognize a claim for tortious acts in concert);•Mielke v. Baibak, 6th Dist. No. L-07-1356, 2009-Ohio-2598 (upholding defense verdict in favor of surgeon in medical malpractice case); •Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Toledo, Ohio v. City of Toledo Plan Comm., 6th Dist. No. L-06-1119, 2006-Ohio-6631 (property owner was entitled to demolition permit although property was in a historic district);My recent presentations involving my areas of practice have comprised:•Filing an Effective Appellate Brief: 2010 Ohio State Bar Association Annual Convention;•Dealing with Foreclosed Properties: 2012 Ohio Township Association Winter Conference; and •Appeals from Decisions by Local Governments Under Chapter 2506 of the Ohio Revised Code: 2013 Toledo Bar Association Public Law Committee Seminar.
