- Performed thinning, deadwooding, crown cleaning, and structure pruning to landscape trees.- Excavated the root collar of trees using an Air Spade to find the root flare, inspect for and remove girdling roots, and establish a proper planting depth to improve the health of the trees.- Installed brace rods, support cables, swage-stop cables and lightning protection systems in trees.- Observed ANSI A300, ANSI Z133 standards, and ISA guidelines while pruning trees and shrubs.- Injected up to 800 gal. of slow-release fertilizer under trees and shrubs in one day.- Ensured safe work practices by leading job site safety briefings.- Conducted tree risk assessments prior to working on any tree.- Operated chipper, chainsaws, Swinger articulated loader, and other equipment safely and effectively, using all required PPE.- Served as the groundman on a job where a crane was used to remove a dead tree.- Protected clients' property while safely lowering limbs using appropriate rigging techniques.- Completed a 1-month storm-damage job where more than 100 damaged trees were pruned or removed.

GENERAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS- Assisted communities with meeting their needs and goals.- Empowered community members, especially women, through facilitating trainings and workshops. - Conducted community assessments to analyze the community's strengths and potential avenues for improvement.HEALTH ACCOMPLISHMENTS- Collaborated with more than 20 partners on projects ranging from HIV education to natural resource management.- Organized, budgeted and oversaw an HIV Know Your Status campaign that provided education, counseling and voluntary testing, and reached 1,446 people in 10 rural communities of Ghana.- Hosted an HIV radio broadcast on HIV de-stigmatization with the regional director for People Living With HIV/AIDS.ENVIRONMENTAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS- Wrote and secured a $2,800 grant for a rabbit rearing project for 22 men and women in Ghana; this project also provided training on record keeping, rabbit breeding and rabbit husbandry practices to the participants.- Networked with an NGO to obtain 600 seeds of trees to be grown by 22 women for firewood; this will reduce the pressure placed on the area's limited forest for fuel supply, as well as provide a source of income for the women.OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS- Co-organized a 5-day regional leadership camp for 30 Ghanaian female students that provided HIV education, leadership skills development, women empowerment, and training in income-generating activities.- Founded an English Adult Literacy class for 51 illiterate men and women.- Co-formed a PCV-led HIV group and served as the group's first president; this group networked PCVs in Ghana's ten regions and published articles about successful HIV projects in Peace Corps Ghana's monthly newsletter.- Attained an advanced proficiency in Waale - one of Ghana's more than 70 languages.- Assisted another volunteer in writing and recording ten Waale language lessons to be made available to new Volunteers as they receive their language training.
