A recruiter once summed up my work with the idiom: doing well by doing good. I wish it had been something a little more original, but it was a good description, and I am not going to argue with it.I come from a science and engineering background, which is why the good I have chosen to do is to protect the integrity of scientific research, so the work coming from universities and research institutes can do even broader public good.My current position has given me the opportunity to work with dozens of institutions, and a unique appreciation for differences in institutional culture. I have designed and implemented systems to manage the oversight of research involving human subjects and laboratory animals; clinical trials; export controls; intellectual property and conflict of interest management.I have been involved with SRA since 2003, where I served in various roles on the Education and Professional Development Committee for seven years. I have also been involved with AUTM since 2003, where I have acted as judge for the AUTM Venture Forum competition for six years.
