Stationary & Benchtop Tools (Delta Machinery)* Primary responsibility was the design and development of the Flagship of the Delta Woodworking Group: the first completely redesigned UnisawTM Professional Table Saw since 1937.* Managed up to 12 engineers, drafters and technicians at various project milestones.* Designed/developed 300+ new components from a wide variety of materials such as: cast iron, sheet metal, plastic, powdered metal and bar stock. * Helped design and implement rigorous test plans for the saws' components and sub-systems to ensure best-in-class reliability and quality. * Facilitated focus groups to help determine key user features and benefits.* Helped keep team focused on the key business metrics of: delivery, profitability and reliability. All three components were very important to help maximize profitability to the Woodworking business during tough economic times (e.g. tremendous raw material increases, recession and job losses).* Mentored younger engineers on how to ensure robust design and manufacturability using the SPSS system (Statistical Process Six Sigma--2D & 3D stack-ups, including Monte Carlo simulations using Crystal Ball) and GD&T. * Continually challenged the team to implement innovation and creativity in all facets of the design cycle, while maintaining design simplicity and elegance. * Turned innovation and creativity into a competitive advantage in the form of Intellectual Property. During the course of the project over 100 patent disclosures were created resulting in approximately a dozen patent applications. * Worked closely with a cross functional team including Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Design, Finance, Reliability, Safety/Compliance and Electrical Engineering to ensure a successful product launch.

* Primary responsibility was to incorporate innovative technology into the Porter Cable & Delta family of tools and to contribute to backlog of innovative new products. * Provided engineering support to product design teams, including transitioning new products and knowledge from the Advanced Development concept teams to the production design teams. * Performed FEA analyses on new and existing products including: part failures, weight to strength optimization and cost reduction projects. * Closely interacted with attorneys during the patent application process, including drawing and figure preparation, verbal communication of ideas, and review and correction of applications.
