Jeffrey, originally from New Brunswick, was raised on the Port au Port peninsula and currently resides in Stephenville. A Franco-Mi’kmaw individual, Jeffrey has been actively involved in volunteering and professional activities across various communities in Newfoundland and Labrador since his formative years.While his early years provided limited exposure to his Mi’kmaw heritage, Jeffrey's commitment to cultural understanding deepened during his high school years. Following his graduation, he dedicated time to further explore and embrace his Mi’kmaw roots.Commencing in 2018, Jeffrey's involvement with Mi’kmaw communities intensified through volunteering, exposing him to sacred ceremonies and traditional medicines. His journey progressed as he assumed roles of increasing responsibility within the Mi’kmaw Cultural Foundation (MCF). Initially serving as a Director, he later took on the position of Secretary, eventually culminating in his appointment as the first Executive Director in 2021. While he has transitioned from this role, Jeffrey maintains enduring connections with the Mi'kmaw communities.Jeffrey's extensive experience has afforded him profound insights into cultural protocols and practices within Indigenous communities in Newfoundland and Labrador. Presently, he employs a two-eyed seeing approach, integrating Indigenous ways of living with Western ways of knowing. Leveraging this perspective, he assists businesses, non-profit organizations, and charities in optimizing their operations by tapping into the strengths derived from both cultural frameworks.In addition to his cultural pursuits, Jeffrey has pursued a robust educational background in business studies. His academic journey in business has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of organizational dynamics, strategic planning, and management principles. This educational foundation complements his commitment to supporting vulnerable Indigenous populations, as he applies a holistic and informed approach to address their unique challenges.Jeffrey's dedication to bridging the gap between cultural understanding and business acumen underscores his commitment to creating positive impact within Indigenous communities.
