As the Chief Data and Analytics Officer, I led the modern data-driven transformation in the organization, I was brought on and tasked with modernizing the 200+ person and the (decade old) systems behind the hundreds of terabytes of organizational and sponsor data. With a yearly budget of $25 million for tech and people, the organization was significant in delivery, cost, and company direction. What I Did:Strategize & Innovate• Created a vision and framework to move the analytics platform from co-located Hadoop architecture to a modern public cloud (Azure) data lake/delta lake framework. • Successfully deprecated all co-located hosting within 12-month plan, on time and on budget• Migration and modernization reduced IT/Data budget by $2.4 million / yearLead & Inspire • Led a team of 200 colleagues with a 60-40 FTE to Contractor split. • Maintained an industry beating 5% turn-over/attrition rate (average is 13% in tech/data) through openness, prioritization, and servant leadership. • Created Center of Excellent for Data Science, building a team of resources to share among IT, company projects, and shadow IT/Data departments to collaborate, drive security, reduce risk of data loss, and ensure standards. As Chief Data Officer (CDO) I was responsible for Bentley Systems' full lifecycle of data and data strategies. I was responsible for designing, building, and implementing a data architecture that fully satisfied the information needs of both colleagues and users, from product integration to internal analysis.
