Responsibilities include developing NLP models to convert unstructured documents into actionable business insights. My current project involves classifying claims documents to identify when a lawsuit has been filed and initiating the necessary internal processes to respond.

My primary responsibilities included updating and enhancing the Enterprise Economic Capital Model using statistical and actuarial modeling techniques and Willis Towers Watson Igloo Extreme software. To this end, I partner with analysts and leadership in ERM and in other departments to identify and quantify sources of risk facing the enterprise. I communicate results to all levels of leadership, from immediate management to board committees, in the form of written reports and verbal presentations.

I served as the instructor for undergraduate-level Principles of Macroeconomics (three sections). My responsibilities included preparing and delivering lectures, and writing, administering, and grading assignments and exams to evaluate student performance. Working in this position, I honed my presentation and public speaking skills by delivering lectures to groups of 8 to 35 students of various learning styles, cultures, and education backgrounds. I participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates funded by the National Science Foundation for June-August 2012. With two other undergraduates, I served as a research assistant to Dr. Keith Finlay (Assistant Professor of Economics, Tulane University) on a project studying the effects of pseudoephedrine restriction laws on the markets for illegal drugs. During the program, I reviewed the existing economic and criminological literature to assemble the existing body of knowledge on the subject and find where our study would fit in. I collected and cleaned data on drug prices from the DEA's System to Retrieve Information from Drug Evidence (STRIDE) and on drug-related rehabilitation admissions using the Department of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration’s Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS). I then analyzed the data using Stata, SAS, and Microsoft Excel. Each week we prepared progress reports and presentations to deliver to the faculty and our colleagues.
