As a leader, his passion for international education, combined with dedication to advancing issues of diversity, inclusion, access, and equity, provides the foundation for his commitment to the modern land-grant model of education that contributes to the betterment of the region, nation, and world through teaching, research, and service.Growing up in rural Nebraska in a community that values higher education and places a premium on strong personal relationships in achieving shared goals, Jeffrey's leadership approach is built upon the belief that through creative efforts and hard work all things are possible. He approaches leadership through radical candor and strengths-based practices that aims to help others thrive in their personal and academic lives, contribute to the betterment of their colleagues and the larger society, and lead purpose-filled lives. Jeffrey's research interests are primarily focused on the concepts of imagineering and emerging adulthood as college students construct their international education experiences. This includes particular attention to the role of time, gender, self-representation, privilege, and social relationships within the college student global experience. However, he has also explored the role of faculty in international education, US Presidential discourse on study abroad, and key aspects of strategic relationships in the development of strategic global partnerships.
