Spaeth began his career in the beer industry with Spaeth Distributing Company, a family owned company in Central Minnesota. Shortly after the sale of Spaeth Distributing Company, Spaeth was hired as Sales Manager at Summit Brewing Company in 1986 - the 2nd employee after Summit’s Founder and CEO. In 2007, Spaeth was promoted to V.P. of Sales and Marketing. In early 2015, after a realignment of company goals and focus, Spaeth assumed the role of V.P. of Sales.Before starting his career at Spaeth Distributing Company, Spaeth graduated with Honors from the University of Minnesota, Morris with a BA in Economics and a double Minor in Mathematics and French. In 1996, Spaeth earned a MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Saint Thomas, Saint Paul, Minnesota. The following highlights some of Spaeth’s accomplishments during his tenure at Summit Brewing Company:• Achieved market-share leader in Minnesota and strong share challenger in periphery states• Shipped 131,500 barrels In 2014-- Summit Brewing Company was one of only 33 breweries in the USA to exceed 100,000 barrels. • Increased sales annually for 28 years• Developed and managed a distribution network from self-distribution in 1986 to over 90 distributors in 14 states• Recruited sales and marketing teams from one sales representative in 1992 (Spaeth) to twenty-eight team members in 2015• Introduced several new product initiatives including Summit Saga IPA, a Minnesota industry share leader in the IPA category• Collaborated to create several marketing communication initiatives including “The Summit Good Will Beer Tour” and “Get to the Bottom of It” advertising campaignSpaeth left his role at Summit Brewing Company in March of 2016 after thirty years. . Soon after leaving Summit, Spaeth commenced a short term consulting assignment with Surly Brewing Company. In December of 2018, Spaeth and his wife Elizabeth purchased the Imtron Corp. a thirty-year old electronic parts distributor, from owners Tom Lind and Lyle Hanna. As CEO and General Manager, Spaeth guides the sales efforts of the company and manages supplier relationships.
